After watching a newscaster van, a tractor and trailer, and two race cars get pummeled by a train on a very in depth track system designed by my son I exclaimed, "Wow that was a terrible accident! I hope everyone was ok?!" To which he explained so matter of fact, "Well, mom most only got a scratch but the cops like when the bad guys get ran over by a train. I makes them less work."

Huh? I can see the logic BUT I still had to go into the whole yes, they may be bad guys but they are still people. They still have people who love them, and maybe they have learned to make better choices, yada yada yada.... OY!
