That's when I remembered two hand print art projects the kids made at preschool... Anthony's was made in 2009 and Madison's in 2010... I have always kept them because I wanted to eventually frame them. So, I pulled them out and there was the foundation of the room! I LOVE how they look mounted on card stock and framed....
Madison's is the crab and Anthony's is the bird :)
Once I had my colors, I knew JUST what I wanted! I think it all came together just as I pictured! Now, if I just didn't have any toys in there it would be PERFECT, but I guess it IS a playroom! :)
excuse the messy train tables... Anthony is in the midst of changing it up!
The only thing I dislike in the room is the couch, BUT it was in my basement and FREE so I can't complain! It was one of the first pieces of furniture Jason and I bought 15 years ago lol... MEMORIES!
It's amazing what shot glasses, plates, bowls, and cups can make!
On the other side of the TV, I needed something and I wanted it to be personalized by the kids so I painted their hand and foot prints... They totally make me smile. I wish I had found square canvases the right size, but the rectangles work! I love the Artist in Training sign and I like how they can chose which projects to display.
Finally, my super AWESOME husband built the table and chairs and the book shelf on the wall! He did an AWESOME job! The chairs are SO sturdy and the table ROCKS! I love the wall shelf and the cost to make it was a fraction of the one in my beloved, often drooled over, Pottery Barn Kids catalog.
note my little coordinating crayon can... scrapbook paper and ribbon :)
