I briefly mentioned taking my dog for a walk the other day, but what I failed to share was how adventurous this walk really was...
My pooch is OLD! Like REALLY old. He is a 14 year old golden retriever and is quite possible the BEST dog EVAH! If you can get past his stench and mangy-ness he is a sweet poochie. I decided to be a good dog owner and take him for a walk since it was such a BEAUTIFUL day!
Murray about 7 years ago....
I hooked up the leash and we headed out The kids, me, and our beloved Murray.... I had hoped to make it around the block, but alas I set my expectations TOO high (as usual)! We made it to the stop sign... THREE doors down! Seriously. I do not jest. Three doors down!
Once we get to the stop sign, Murray lays down in the MIDDLE of the road and REFUSES to move! I am sweet talking him, pulling his leash, trying everything to get him up! But NADA. There he lays in the middle of the road!
In the distance I see a car coming and I am urging Murray to MOVE... At this point Anthony sees the car and FREAKS out! Fists clenched by his head, he jumps and he screams.... "Murray MOVE!! Mo
mmy the car is getting him!! MOMMY!!!!
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
During all the commotion, the car is quickly approaching and I am pulling the damn dog and FINALLY he moves.... about 6 inches! The car was able to pass and Murray escaped death...
Anthony is hysterical, my dog is playing dead, Madison is muttering and shaking her head, and I am
swearing like a sailor under my breath smiling while PULLING with all my might. Finally, 30 minutes after we initially set out, we arrive home and I vow to NEVER walk him again...
I have been laughing about this for days.... I wonder what my neighbors must think of our craziness!?!
