Last night as I was chatting on the phone, I stepped out into the garage for a minute... As I was pulling the door shut, I felt something fly at me! I quickly shut the door and turned to see what it was! I won't lie... the F bomb was dropped as a baby bat SWOOPED at my head and its wings flapped in MY HAIR! I SCREAMED and ran out into the driveway to escape this vile creature! As I
jumped up and down doing a skevved out little freak out dance repeating OMG OMG OMG over and over stood on the driveway I watched the little bastard fly around aimlessly in my garage! I was stunned none of my neighbors came to my rescue or called the police as I SCREAMED! What the hell was I gonna do? Of course Jason was working over nights, though I doubt he would have come to the rescue as he would have freaked too, so I had to deal solo! My solution? Run in the front door and pray the bastard leaves on his own accord!
After an hour, I crept back out into the garage and THANKFULLY it was GONE! Still grossed out, I pushed the garage door button faster than a toddler's mood swing! All night I could not get that nasty thing out of my mind! I couldn't sleep because:
I just kept thinking of it and how it probably had rabies and was going to eat me and then I would need 100 shots in my stomach and then I would still DIE because the rabies shots would NOT work.... ;) (dramatic much?)
OMG Xanax anyone?!? I won't even lie, at 3:00 a.m. I went in Madison's room, made a bit of noise and the second she stirred I scooped her up and said "It's okay baby, come sleep with mama". Yes, I woke my baby up because I was scared! Once she snuggled in, we both slept much better!
Oh how this city girl longs for the days when a squirrel sighting was a rare and exciting occasion! hahaha

RPFL!
Staci I'm sure that was a terrifying experience. I am laughing because my husband actually has a bat detector and will sit out on the deck in the early evening just before dusk and wait for it to signal that it hears a bat. We have had them sleep up in the top of our deck umbrella and I know they must be in our attic.
I'm proud of you for regaining your composure...even if you did have to rely on the company of a preschooler ;-D.
Thanks for sharing your batty story.
HAHAHA, that cracked me up. Probably because I would do the exaaaaact same thing :P Especially the part about wakin up your kid to sleep with ya! hehe
OH NO! YUCK!
Once when I was in high school we went to visit my Dads parents in an old house in Ohio. As we were going to bed, there he was, the nasty thing, a bat hanging from the doorway of the room I WAS ABOUT TO GO SLEEP IN! I screamed and ran from the house....then my Dad with a broom went to get rid of it. After about an hour, he told me he had put it in their trash incinerator. Trusting him, I headed timidly back up to bed...and you'll never believe it, but there that bugger was again! (MY dad was so mad...I guess he never could catch it...but can you believe he was gunna send me back in there?!?!?!)....well needless to say I decided to go up the road to another house on the property. I am still getting chills thinking about it! Sorry for your scare, I too hate bats!!!!!
I'm emotionally traumatized just reading that. I'm also VERY happy you didn't have to get 100 shots in your stomach. ;)
I would have done the same thing! YUCK!
