Oral Fixations...

I would have thought I was well passed the age where I have to CONSTANTLY say, "Out of your mouth!" BUT, as usual I thought wrong! Madison STILL puts EVERYTHING in her mouth! I repeat this phrase at least a million times a day... (Just heard Jason tell her to take something out of her mouth YET again!)

Last night I was snuggled in with my Kindle, exhausted from a busy day... Madison was standing next to me, getting ready to ask something when she started to gag! I shot up, grabbed her, beat patted her back for what felt like an eternity as she choked and gagged! Finally I hear a whoosh as her airway cleared! The BEST sound ever by the way!!!

In between her sobs, I was able to decipher that she had choked on and swallowed  a marble from our child loved mom hated marble run (there are just SO many pieces)... I called the doc just to be sure that it would pass and not need to be seen, but AGAIN I thought wrong, so off to the ER we go...

Thankfully they were fast and she only freaked when she had to take her clothes off (which I find interesting because our house is typically clothing optional)! She was still as a statue during her x-rays and all airways seemed to be clear (thank God!!)

Interestingly enough, the marble could not be seen in the X-ray, BUT.... SURPRISE there were 2 other foreign objects in her belly... One looked like a coin the other looked like it may be one of my necklaces... I was horrified! Embarrassed does not even begin to describe. The doc asked if I fed her and of course she says NO! (Way to throw mom under the bus kiddo)

So today I had hoped the trip to the hospital would have scared her, but nope I thought yet again... I am already up to telling her to get stuff out of her mouth at least 100 times already and its only 10:16! Let's just say I think she may be a 3 year old human trash can!!!

Wow! That is scary! I wouldn't know what to do with that. Hayden never really put things in his mouth... although he does like to drink the bath water, lake water, and pool water. Good luck!

Oh I remember that phase! My daughter ate a flower one time and I called poison control... lol. I was probably the strangest call they had all day!
