Jessica and Toni tagged me in this fun little get to know you! Thanks for thinking of me! :)

Here are the rules:

List Six Unimportant Things That Make You Happy

Mention and link to the person who tagged you

Tag six of your favorite bloggers to play along, and comment on their blog to let them know they've been tagged.

Six Unimportant Things That Make Me Happy

  1. popping tags: there is nothing that thrills me more than popping tags off of my clothes (or the kids clothes) before putting them on. I LOVE to wear BRAND NEW clothes. I used to do much more tag popping, but I do not shop anywhere near as much as I used too :(

  2. fresh paint: I love the smell, look, and feel of a freshly painted room. My whole house is due for fresh paint and I am looking forward to Jason getting on it....

  3. wild flowers: I love spotting the random wild flowers growing on the side of the road, in the median, or well ANYWHERE! They instantly bring a smile to my face!

  4. going out to dinner: Pre kids we ate out at least 5 nights a week. The nights we didn't we just munched or had liquid dinners. I NEVER cooked! I do not like cooking because I STINK at it! Over the past 4 years my cooking is improving, but I MISS eating out where someone else deals with all the messes!

  5. fresh cut grass: the smell makes me smile and it looks so pretty!
  6. books: I love to read. I love to dive into a book and devour each word, sentence, page. There is nothing better than a great read.

and now..... Lisa, Jess, Jen, That Girl, ~Mel~, & little toes and cheerios.....

YOUR IT!

how to instantly get that nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach:

Have your three year old mutter you this sentence ever so nonchalantly:

"Its okay mommy, I dumped it in the potty"

This is what Anthony tells me as he quickly passes me onto his next big adventure. My stomach dropped and a million thoughts of what he could have possibly dumped in the potty raced through my mind.....

S: "WAIT! What did you dump in the potty?"

He turns and looks at me with those big brown eyes.

A: "the cup mommy" (all that was missing was a great big duh and an eye roll. I mean really WHO doesn't dump the cup in the potty)

S: "Show me the cup Ant."

He turns and I follow into the bathroom where he proceeds to hand me a little yellow cup.

S: "What was in the cup?"

A: in his best CRAZY voice " I peed" (insert pirate laugh here.....)

First, what would possess him to go IN the bathroom, pull down his pants and PEE in a cup when the TOILET is RIGHT there? Really, WHY!?!?!

Second, that cup was the cup they use to rinse their mouths AFTER they brush their teeth...... I can only hope that this was a ONE time incident! BLECH!!!

Anthony-isms

"Mommy I need a shower. I'm alllllllll dirty. My penis and hair is dirty..... K? Anty needs a shower.... "

***

"Aiden's my buddy buddy. I like him. Madison has Katie cuz she's a Girrrrrrl!"

***

"Daddy's not going to the jumping place 'cuz he's scared...."

***

Anthony came running downstairs and handed me the phone:

A: Mommy I need to call daddy on the phone. Its berry important.....

S: Okay (I dial and hand him the phone)

A: Daddy I need to tell you.... Da wamp is bwoken. I fix it ok? It has lots of pieces...... You come home and help me? (As soon as I hear this I run up to his room to see what's broken! What did I find? His lamp with the lamp shade removed. An easy fix.... this time!)

***

This morning, I found it odd that Anthony didn't leave his yogurt container on the table like ALWAYS, but I just figured he actually REMEMBERED to throw it out! Later I went to grab a drink and this is what I saw:

When I asked him "why boo boo bunny was in his yogurt cup in the FRIDGE" He explained, "Dat boo boo bunny was hungry mommy. He needed his yogurts too!"

Well, I guess I should have known boo boo bunny needed some too! lol

Look what Anthony did!!!!

all by himself! I have known he could write his letters, but he never wants to or when her tries he gives up if his first attempt is not perfect (can anyone say perfectionist?!?). Anyway, tonight we were chalking and I wrote both their names like I always do and this is what Anthony did all by himself!!! I am so proud! He was too!!!!

Random Blurbs

A few weeks ago, Anthony started begging us to go bowling. We were utterly confused as to how he even knew about bowling... When Jason was off we piled in the car and met our friends Mike, Sara, and Aiden at the bowling alley! The kids duck pin bowled and had a blast! Aiden had a real knack for it! Anthony had quite a few balls stop in the middle of the lane, but had a blast regardless. Madison, well shes like her mommy. She didn't care too much for the bowling, but she sure enjoyed the snacks her favorite person brought!

**********

Yesterday we went to a local bounce house place for open jump time. Oh how Anthony was in his glory!!! he ran, and jumped, and squealed all morning long! He has been asking to go back ever since we left! Madison, well she had fun too, but was a little intimidated by the sheer size of these things. She would hang out by me until she spied an open moon bounce. Then she would run in and jump until kids started piling in which would send her running back to me! She keeps telling me in her squeaky little voice, "mommy I wuv the jumping pwace"! So we will return!

**********

Last night I had a migraine and was EXHAUSTED so I so went to bed EARLY! Like 9:00 early! I slept awesome even though Anthony woke up with nightmares a couple of times... This morning was the first morning I woke up not tired in a LONG time! yay!! I need to go to bead early more often!!!

Wordless Wednesday

I've joined the club....

the "my kid just cut his hair club"!

I call Jason on the way home from Ballet pictures (a whole 'nother post) to tell him to bring out the $$ and grab Madison as I pull in the driveway but I get much more than I expected!

J: Wait til you see what your son did! (don't you love the shift to MY son when its so convenient lol)

S: stomach drops Oh God! What did he do?!?! (Racking my brain trying to prepare myself for the worst! I hear Jason laugh so I take this as a good sign)

J: You left the bathroom door open....

I was totally thinking sooooooo big woop!!

J: I left the evidence

S: Just tell me!

J: You'll see.....

At this point I pulled into the driveway, yank Madison out of the car seat and make a mad dash inside. What do I see?!?!

My beautiful son (with already messed up hair because he won't sit still during his hair cut) with a chunk of hair missing..... He cut a chunk out of the very front right where his cowlick is so now it looks even crazier lol..... As Anthony sees me in the most crazy voice ever he shouts:

"I cut my hair mommy!!! SEE!!!" he then proceeded to laugh like a pirate!

laugh or cry I tell ya..... This boy cracks me up!

Is it Tuesday already?!?

Really? WOW did this holiday weekend go by way too fast! The weather was PERFECT all weekend! The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and life was good!

Late Friday night my parents arrived into town after a pretty horrific standstill on 95, but they made it! Safely!!

Saturday morning the kids bounced out of bed to see grandmom and pop pop! Oh how happy they were! Anthony wouldn't stop talking and my dad can get Madison laughing like NO One else! I was not the least bit hesitant leaving the kids because they are just soo happy with my parents!!

Saturday afternoon we hit the highway and headed to Harrisburg, PA. What a neat little city! They had an arts festival all weekend along the river and it was pretty cool!! We spent the afternoon wandering around and getting a feel of the neighborhood. The architecture was stunning.... I LOVE old building and churches!!!

We decided we would have a few drinks and head up to the hotel and change before our BIG night out! We had stumbled upon The Firehouse restaurant and decided to eat our KID FREE dinner there!!! OMG!!! D.E.V.I.N.E! We had crab puffs for an appetizer and the were fantabulously delicious!!!

After dinner we wandered around and had a few more drinks! It was a perfect night! We were sleepy ans so wanted to take advantage of the chance for uninterrupted sleep!! No one was going to wake us up at 6!! WOOHOO!!!

Just as we were settling into bed.... all snuggled in, bed just resting on the pillows, the room PERFECTLY dark... we heard it! If your a parent you KNOW that sound.... The WAIL of a newborn baby!!! OMG I just wanted to die! Of course we were put in the room next to an infant!! We, the couple trying to get away from parenting for a mere 24 hours, got placed in a room next to a wailing baby! It was quite funny!!! We both just laughed, turned on the TV and went to sleep! So much for the quiet, but we could totally sympathize!

We both slept great until about 6:30 when we heard the wailing infants sibling start running around and screaming with joy.... Go figure! :) We have been there so I can relate, but oh how I longed to sleep til 10! lol!

We had a fantastic little getaway, but it was nice to get home! The rest of the weekend sailed by without a hitch and our visit was nice. We all had a great time! My parents left this morning and both the kids were very upset, so I know a Myrtle Beach trip is in our cards much sooner than I expected!

I hope everyone's summer started with a bang!

May 24, 2009

busy

I only have a sec... A game of Scrabble awaits! My parents are in town, so my puter time is limited.... I hope every is having a FANTABULOUS kickoff to my favorite: SUMMER! Tuesday I shall return and will share our hilariously ironic night away!
Have fun and be SAFE!!

May 22, 2009

A perfect afternoon.....

Yesterday was Anthony's end of the school year picnic and we had a FANTASTIC time! They had all kinds of activities and games for the kids to do.... It was a lot of fun!

The kids lined up by class and sang a song.... During the song one of Anthony's friends punched play punched him and they a whole lot of play punching ensued with all the little boys in his class.... I ALMOST DIED!!!!

After their song, each child was presented with his book. Anthony was so proud to receive his. He immediately flew open the pages. He had the most proud smile ever!!

After the presentation, we all had lunch. The kids played games, painted, and just ran! Anthony really like the sack races.... He did it over and over again!

It was such a great afternoon. We had so much fun!!! I am really glad we have decided to keep him there. The teachers and students are all so sweet!

May 21, 2009

A day behind!

Yesterday some friends and I took all the kiddos to an animal park. It's kinda like a zoo with random rescue animals.... Its laid back and hardly ever crowded so the kids had free reign....

Madison LOVED feeding all of the animals. Anthony was a wee bit grouchy at first because he was hungry! When we sat to eat he ate his sandwich, Madison's sandwich, AND half of my sandwich! After he ate he was back to his old self!!! I think all of us enjoyed the black panther the best!! He was pacing, purring, and growling. The sound was incredible.... very spooky! He even hissed at us a few times! At one point he leaped to get on his climber thing and all three of us jumped! Anthony SCREAMED! It was so funny!!! Anthony had the pleasure of getting pecked by a nosey emu looking for feed! His initial look of SHOCK was priceless, but then he SCREAMED!

All the kids enjoyed pretending to be animals in the empty animal pen! We had bunnies, goats, lions, and a emu! We all had such a fantastic time!!!

May 20, 2009

So.....

Anthony kept sneaking out of his bed tonight.... First, I caught him in the play room playing EVER so quietly... Then I found him brushing his teeth, and finally I was talking to my neighbor and he came down, put on his boots, and mosied on out the front door.... :) HE was so funny each time I caught him that he was making me laugh....

After the third time he BEGGED to sleep in "mommy's bed"so I let him BUT I said NO TV..... All was silent and I never heard a peep!

About 45 minutes passed and I ran up to my room to grab another load of laundry and I found him sacked out on a stack of pillows in front of the TV!!! Little stinker!

The best part: He was watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2..... Now he'll probably have nightmares! :0

My thief was not the sharpest crayon in the box!

The crook, perpetrator, or as they say in Criminal Minds, unsub who broke into my truck this weekend had no brains.... Let's just say MORON!

Tonight as we were headed to Lowes, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted it, my beloved bag... thrown in this fenced in sump pump area! WOOHOO!

The only problem I could not get it! The fence is UBER tall and has barb wire at the top.... :(
I called in my new found heroes, the state police, and they came to my rescue! One of the men in blue hopped the fence and grabbed my bag! He even suffered battle wounds.... All in the line of duty :) I was PUMPED!!! My wallet was in there and so were all my cards! (too bad I cancelled them!)
Anyway, the thief was stupid because he did not take my Walgreen's gift card OR my Marshall's gift card! He was just looking for cash and didn't get any!! nanny nanny boo boo!
So I got my bag and gift cards back! Boo-ya!!!!

Today SUCKS!

It started off well, but it changed to CRAP in 2.2 seconds (the amount of time it took for me to open my car door!)

Saturday we went to a party. I used our GPS because I did not know where I was going! First I stopped to pick up some tissue paper.... On the way home I chatted with my mom, pulled in the driveway, went inside, and finished my phone call.

Flash forward to yesterday. I was heading to the second party of the day and decided I would bring Jason and I home dinner.... Glance over to the passenger seat and realize my purse is not there. Instantly I was miffed!! Jason always, like ALWAYS, moves my crap!!!!!!! Whatever, I get to the party and forget about it.

This morning I go to grab my purse from where Jason always sticks it and its NOT there. Huh? I check the car, nope. Scour the house, nope! Panic is setting in.... I tell Jason to give it up he proved his point, but nope he has no clue!!!

YUP my car was broken into sometime Saturday night.... Stole my FAVORITE coach handbag and wallet! The $%^*&#'s even took the GPS! Jason is ready to KILL me because he ALWAYS yells at me that I'm too careless.... blah blah blah! I NEVER have cash, so they didn't get ANY money and my credit cards have been canceled.... What a flipping nightmare....

The Jump Arounds

Do you know them? Have you heard of them? If your kids watch Noggin, I am sure they have!! Anthony has become OBSESSED! He loves them! For some reason every time he thinks of them he MUST put on crazy PJ bottoms and DANCE around!

He is mostly intrigued by the little guy who break dances.... Anthony, bless his heart, tries to "break it down" like this guy!! I happened to catch his efforts the other night....
My son LOVES music and LOVES to dance! He CRACKS me up!!!! His moves make me smile!

ENJOY!

This morning Anthony wakes me up and says he sees an ambulance. I said cool and rolled right on over! I just assumed it was on the main room you can kinda see from his window. This kid of mine has ambulance and firetruck RADAR!

Well about 20 minutes or so later he tells me:

A: Mommy you missed it, I saw an ambulance!

S: Cool buddy! Was it going fast?

A: No, just stopping at Miss Kathy's house.....

S: (full attention at this point) At Miss Kathy's house?!

A: Yes, she went to the doctor in the ambulance.

I think Anthony is telling the truth, because he gave too many accurate details and he never tells tales (I just don't think he has learned to yet! He is WAY too honest lol) What should I do? Should I call the hospital? I am just so worried!

Wordless Wednesday

Good Morning Sunshine....

I hope everyone's morning is off to a great start! Mine started with a SPLASH.... truly!

I woke up to a full water bottle being accidentally spilled all over me by my ever adorable son!

Happy Tuesday!

May 11, 2009

What a weekend!!!

Whew.... It has been crazy here! I feel soooo behind, because I have not been online so I have not made my normal rounds.... I need to catch up! SOON!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! Mine was great! The kids surprised me with a card (Anthony wrote his OWN name :) and Jason surprised me with a little get away for us! My parents are coming into town Memorial Day weekend so we are heading out Saturday and we'll be home sometime Sunday.... 24 hours of just the two of us! That has not happened since, well since September 8, 2005!

Last summer I showed some interest in visiting Harrisburg, PA so that's where we are going. I think it looks like a neat place... We shall see! We have been there done that with Baltimore and DC (I swear we lived there every Friday and Saturday night for 8 years!) and wanted to go somewhere we have not been before! We plan to do some exploring, some shopping, have a nice dinner, do some bar hopping, and some dancing! I. CANNOT. WAIT!!!

Yesterday we hit up an area amusement park and all four of us had a BLAST! It was a perfect day! The weather was nice, there were NO lines, everyone was happy, and the day was just awesome!

Now I'm off to my crazy run around with ballet and preschool!

May 9, 2009

Happy Mother's Day!!

I hope everyone has a FANTABULOUS day tomorrow! We are heading to an area amusement park for some fun family time! I am sure my children will be providing me with some MAJOR blogging fodder! Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Diva Extraordinaire & Mister Softy

Little Miss has officially entered the terrible twos (though she's really not too terrible!) She occasionally has a fit and when she does its a DOOZY! I had asked her repeatedly to help Anthony and I clean up all the cards they had strewn all over the family room and she REFUSED to help. She is usually so good about helping, but she was NOT having it! I asked her to help a few times and she finally got up and started cleaning up!

One point for team mom!!!

After she had picked up about 10 of the cards, she walked right over to me and threw them at me and made this awful eh sound....

Minus 10 for team mom!!!

After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I picked her up, explained that that was rude, and put her in time out. Of course she had a fit, but she sat for her two minutes and did her time....

The kicker was, the ENTIRE time she was in time out Anthony cried.... He kept saying over and over, "But mommy I wuv my sister. Matsin can't do a time out" It was so sad and so cute at the same time!

May 7, 2009

Lady's Man....

Yesterday, during the brief lull in the rain, my fantabulous neighbor came over and asked if the kids could "help" her walk the dogs.... Let just say this totally made their day... maybe even their month! I tagged along because they can get a little crazy and I didn't want my neighbor to have to pick one of them up....

Madison tuckered out towards the end so I was lagging behind carrying her when I over hear this conversation:

Anthony: Miss Kafee... your my fwend.

Miss Kathy: I am?! Well, your my friend too!

Anthony: My mommy's making gwilled cheeses for lunch. Dat's my favwit.

Miss Kathy: That sounds so good!

Anthony: Will you have wunch with me? Pease? You can sit right next to me otay and mommy will make you sandwiches too..... I wuv gwilled cheeses!

I just giggled....

EM: ME

{ae filkins}

Well its that time again... Time for accountability! Why does it seem like Wednesdays come so fast?

I had to giggle this week because Amber announced that she was going to exercise every day in the month of May.... I had promised myself the same exact thing :) and so far I have been doing great! I have done a program on my elliptical every night so far! yay! I have not lost but I have not gained so that is good. I have been a MAJOR slacker and I think I have finally turned the corner and my motivation is back!

This weeks question is a hard one!

"We're all here at EM:ME because we're unhappy with our bodies, or our health; there are things that we are trying to change. But today you must share one thing with everybody that you absolutely love about yourself"

I think that generally I am pretty serious. I have always been this way. However, I am not afraid to be crazy and silly.... I have moments where I laugh like a school girl over silly and immature things. Potty humor is my absolute fave! Or I'll just totally let go and do the unexpected. I like this balance.... I am serious when necessary, but I let my hair down a lot too!

Stop the presses!

I believe our water supply has been contaminated! A crazy man is on the loose and his sole purpose is to drive me insane... SERIOUSLY! I swear the said lunatic has dumped billions of gallons of oil into the pipe that delivers water to my home! This is factual peeps!

My hair has been UBER greasy.... Like I shower in the morning and by mid afternoon it looks like I ran through Jiffy Lube.... First, I blamed it on my shampoo but that 'poo has been tossed like weeks ago!

Also, my face.... Good God, I left puberty like ages ago. Can someone explain to me how at 31 years old my face still breaks out like a 15 year old! Its now greasy but also crazy dry.... LOVELY....

So my usually dry skin and hair has turned into an oil field. Someone needs to drill my head because my hair could easily reduce the US's dependence on overseas oil!

May 4, 2009

The Dinner Debacle!

All day I have ran.... between errands, preschool, and ballet I was not home for more than 30 minutes until dinner time! Exhausting, but I really do love it....

I was in NO mood to fix dinner, but alas we have to eat.... I heated up the grill, threw some pork chops on, started macaroni, and some veggies. Enter Jason.... He for some reason unbeknownst to me decides to reorganize the Tupperware knock off, wanna be Tupperware cabinet... I remind him that he needs to flip the pork chops so out he goes....

Outside he discovers the gas has run out, so he goes in the garage and gets our spare tank.... He swaps tanks only to find the spare is empty too!

I say FORGET it and send him to work... I throw the chops in the oven and finish reorganizing the cabinet Jason just HAD to start. Only when I was finished did I realize I had forgotten the macaroni....

I drained the noodles and was left with mush....

After about a half hour I check on the pork chops only to discover them burnt and dried out!

So not only did I ruin mac and cheese but pork chops too! By this time the kids were STARVING! So much for our dinner. Lets just say bologna and cheese sandwiches and yogurt was served for us all.... Dinner of champs!

May 3, 2009

Why?!?!?

Can someone explain to me why Anthony decided to PEE in his train table drawer? All three bathrooms were accessible, so its not like he couldn't make it to one!

As I was grabbing his jammies the drawer to his train table was open, so I went to shut it. As I leaned down, I noticed liquid in it. I asked why he put juice in the drawer....

"Not juice mommy.... ITS PEE!!!!!" and then he ran off in a fit of giggles and squeals....

WHY?!?!?!?

He has NO Fear!!!

Seriously this kid will do ANYthing (aside from get his hair cut)!!!

He did not want to stop!

This past week she wrote how her days were once filled with firsts and now they are starting to be filled with lasts! That really made me think.... So often I think I rush through the moments when I really need to savour them for one day they will be no more.... Anyway, Check out Deb, she is awesome! Thanks again Deb!!

Here are the award rules:

My 7

  • I love being outside playing with my kids! I love to ride bikes, chalk, and most recently play endless games of Red Light Green Light! I wish we could spend all day every day OUTSIDE!

  • I am a great children's book reader.... Anthony and Madison snuggle in and I set the stage.... Each character has its own voice and I must say I ROCK it ;)

  • I can fold a mean load of laundry (I have had TONS of practice)
  • I recycle all the time and Anthony can recite Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle on command! :)
  • I typically see the positive in most situations... There are only a few things I have a hard time finding something (even the tiniest thing) positive!

  • I have mastered the art of laughing instead of crying... It has taken a while, but I finally understand that laughter takes so much less effort than crying! (and my eyes don't suffer the next day!) Who really cares at the end of the day that 2 dozen eggs were dropped on your freshly SCRUBBED floor!

  • I am a great friend, I will listen, help, laugh, share, and be there WHENEVER you need me! I only ask that you treat me the same in return!

Two days of fun filled family time....

Wow we have been busy, but it has mostly been good busy!!! Thursday we decided to take the kids to an area children's museum... It was a great way to spend the morning!! There were train tables all over which Anthony loved, a Cessna the kids could fly, lots of club houses and slides to play on, and just a lot of fun activities! It was a great morning!!! I only cringed once.... There was a baby doll that giggled when you touched its belly. Madison was VERY intrigued. She ended up taking the doll's dress off (All of our babies are naked!!). Just as she removed the dress a little old lady walked past and Madison declared (quite LOUD) that "Dis baby has a penis! Matsin has a GINA!" The lady giggled, I blushed, Jason walked away, and Madison repeated it over and over until I confirmed that Yes, the baby has a penis and Madison has a vagina..... Oy!

Friday I ran a TON of errands and prayed that the rain would stop because we really wanted to take the kids to a parade and a local festival.... Thankfully the weather cooperated and we were able to go! We were able to watch the fire truck parade and the kids LOVED it! Anthony loved the fire trucks. He was so excited as each one passed. Madison’s favorite part was seeing the "princesses" (pageant winners) on top! She woke up this morning talking about the princesses! :) We also checked out the vendors and activities they had set up.... Anthony did this jump thing (like inverted bungee jumping) and liked it a little too much! Let's just say he did NOT want his turn to end! We had a great night!
Wonder what we'll get into today?!?

Waiting for the parade to start!
