10 things you were dying to know....

right? :) Miss Jen from Harried Mom of Four tagged me to answer this fun set of questions the other day! I started it a few days ago, but I am such a slacker and I am just now finishing it.... :( I got sidetracked as usual and forgot I had started it.... So, here goes!

10 things about me:

1. What is your current obsession? Sadly, the numbers on my scale... They go up and they go down and then they go up again! Its enough to drive me CRAZY!

2. Which item of clothing do you wear most often? Flip Flops Oh how I love them.... I'm not picky any will do.... (I have way too many pairs) They are my fave and I wear them every chance I get!

3. What's for dinner? Tonight we are having a honey roasted pork roast.... My kids and hubby LUUUURVE it, me its okay.... (so I started this post the other day and well life happened, so it got pushed to the back burner! Tonight for dinner: NO CLUE!! I need some inspiration or... a take out menu!!)

4. What are you listening to? Jason playing God Father on Xbox and the kids lullaby CD's as they snooze a rooze!

5. Say something about the one who tagged you. Jen's blog is great! I can't remember how we stumbled upon each other, but she rocks! We seem to have a lot in common.... We even lived in the same neighborhood at the same time....

6. Favorite vacation spots? Any where in the Caribbean.... Place me on a beach with clear warm water and a coconut cocktail and I am officially in paradise!

7. What am I reading right now? Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer... I am late on the Twilight bandwagon. The first I loved, the second was eh... the third I am digging so far.... I have stacks of books to read.... I must make more time to read!!

8. Four words to describe myself. ohhh this is a tough one.... neurotic (especially when it comes to schedules), kind, flighty (I forget everything....), and as Sara described liberal :)

9. Guilty pleasure? Trashy tabloids, chic lit, TV

10. First spring thing to do? Mulch and enjoy all my flowers that are coming back! Oh how I LOVE the spring!

Now I will pass this fun questionaire onto.....

The latest and greatest

of Anthony.....

Now when he asks for something he thinks I will say no to, he follows it up with a simple statement....

Example: "Mom, wanna ride bikes in the front yard? How 'bout give me a sounds good..." or "Mom wanna give Anthony another Popsicle? How 'bout give me a sounds good...."

'bout is long and drawn out while give me a sounds good is said ever so fast....

It cracks me up every time!

Wordless Wednesday

snip... snip... snip....

It is ALWAYS a challenge to have Anthony's hair cut. It is always a battle and the poor kid is TERRIFIED! About 6 months ago, I realized it was the clippers that really terrified him... So the fight is no where near as bad, but it is still challenging. I have to be mentally and emotionally prepared to deal with the dreaded haircut! This morning the mood struck me so we were off.... His resistance did not start the minute we stepped in the car so I thought I may be in luck.... Thank fully I was. Not a single tear was shed and there were only 2 small outbursts... Nothing major! So my boys hair is cut, he thanked the lady, and I would consider the trip successful.... We followed up the hair cut with a trip to the park since he such a great job! Now, since today went so well, I will really be doomed next time lol!

I'm a WINNER!

I have won a bunch of blog giveaways, I just seem to be lucky in that area! I am always surprised to learn that I have won.... BUT, I never seem to receive the prizes lol! Oh well, no biggie! Right?

Well, last week, Liz at Sugerplum Creations let me know that I had won the pedometer that she uses and loves! I was so excited and could NOT wait to use it! I was secretly hoping it would come (remember my prizes never come! only once the person came through) and sure enough it was in today's mail! Thanks so much Liz! I cannot wait to try it out tomorrow! I wonder how much I actually walk?!?! It will be fun to find out!

Thanks again Liz!!! You guys should check her out!

Recital 2009

I dreamed of this moment for like, well forever! I was so excited to see Madison in her first ballet recital! She looked so sweet in her costume and she LOVED wearing it! She kept saying, "matsin soo booful" over and over. It was really sweet! She loved being on stage and when the curtain closed and we had to take her off she SCREAMED! She smiled into the audience and did her little dances... She was looking for daddy in the audience during the first song, but she started to get down on the second.... After intermission we were allowed to sit in the audience until the finale. She loved watching all the big girls! She was mesmerized while they were on stage. However, each time the curtain closed, she asked in the loudest possible voice, "Matsin turn mommy?" After the fifth time, the people sitting near us started giggling :)

Deep breath in; exhale out......

What a weekend! We have been running since early Friday morning.... finally, today I can RELAX!

Friday morning, Jason took Madison to gymnastics and Anthony and I hit up the grocery store. I had to make a dish to bring to my mom's night out and the kids were outside all day! We had dress rehearsal for her VERY FIRST recital Friday and evening, and then I had a Mom's Night Out with some girlfriends! I was looking forward to Friday night ALL day long...

The recital practice went really well. My shy little daughter is really a HAM! She did not want to leave the stage! She just beamed as all the moms watching clapped when her class finished their songs.... It was so sweet!

Eight o'clock arrived and it was time for me to head over to my friend Kelly's house.... As usual the night was a success!! One of the girl's mom came, and we had some faces. We all had so much fun! Things I learned:

  1. My friends make REALLY good food!

  2. Prickly Pear drinks are yummy delish....

  3. Lisha and I seem to like to dress alike...

  4. You must be aware of your surroundings at ALL times. You never know when one of your friends will steal the $5 Kohls gift card you won ;)

  5. Tongues are really funny looking!

  6. The person to call the final hand seems to win the $$$$ (Note to self: Call the last feakin' hand!!!)

  7. Impromptu photo shoots are the best....

  8. Laughing is good for the soul!

The ONLY pic that is halfway decent! I take terrible pictures :(
It sums up the night PERFECT though: LAUGH!

After hitting my pillow way to late Friday night; Anthony had me awake WAY too early Saturday morning! The day started off at full speed. We spent most of the day outside in the ridiculous hotness! (How does it go from low 40's to 98 degrees in like a few days?!? I love warm weather so I'm not complaining, but geesh I would have enjoyed a few more SPRING like days!) saturday afternoon I ran around like a lunatic (as usual) at the very last minute trying to get ready for:

THE RECITAL!

Oh it was perfect and deserves its very own post.... I will flip through the photos and watch the videos and find the PERFECT ones to share! Precious is the only word to describe it!

so....

Remember this Wordless Wednesday? Anthony with his tongue sticking out? Yeah, so tonight I realize where he gets that from! As I am tripping over my feet trying to figure out a step in Zumba, my tongue was totally like that.... How embarrassing!

I'd like to thank....

I have been a bad bloggy award receiver this week... I was given two and they made my day, but I have been crazy busy and did not get to posting them! All the linking takes time.... :( So without further ado!

The fantastic Jen from Harried Mom of Four awarded me The Lemonade Stand Award! I think this is a great award because I am so grateful for so many aspects of my life :)

The Rules of Accepting and Sharing this Award

  1. Put the logo on your blog or post

  2. Nominate at least 10 blogs that show an attitude of gratitude

  3. Link to your nominees within your post

  4. Comment on their blogs to let them know they've received this award

  5. Share the love and link to this post and the person who nominated you for the award.

  6. Tell us how you've come to have an attitude of gratitude

I am so grateful for so many things in my life it would be impossible to mention them all. I am most thankful for my beautiful family. They mean the world to me!! I am grateful for my health. Health is something we take for granted and do not realize how important it is until it has been jeopardized! Finally, I am grateful for my friends! Without them I would be a, as Chelsea Handler would say, "HOT mess! Thanks guys!!

Now to share the love....

Jessica has the cutest little guy and another sweet one on the way!

Little Toes and Cheerios... very cute....

Jen has a blog I just discovered and I love it!

That's all I am nominating today because most of my other bloggy buds have already gotten this award! Thanks Jen!!!

I also won an award from Melissa at Shimmer me blue! She makes some very cool jewelry and her blog is fun! Thanks girl! :)

tear....

Jason has informed me that the baby gear must go! He is sick of looking at it and sick of it being piled in the basement. I always cry (ever so dramatically) "we can't get rid of it all we may have more babies".... He has promised that if (and that was a HUGE if on his part lol) we have another child he will let me buy new! He he he... I have so much baby crap, his butt is going BROKE if I ever have any more babes! I was a baby gear FREAK! I am embarrassed to admit how much stuff I actually have!

Craig's List watch out you are about to see a serious influx of baby crap....

EM: Me Edition

{ae filkins}

Well its that time again... Time for accountability! Why does it seem like Wednesdays come so fast?

This week I have done fairly well on the exercise front! I worked out 30 minutes 4 nights on my elliptical and I also took a Zumba class! I have slacked since Saturday though... :( I plan on getting my butt on the Elliptical TONIGHT! My eating habits stink lately! I have been craving sweets in a major way and I seem to be super hungry late at night. I have avoided all fast food though! Yay! I have been fast food free for three weeks....

This week, Amber has asked what music you work out to...

Well, I usually don't work out to music, because I typically watch TV ... If I am listening to music though it has to be hip hop with fast and pounding beats! It helps if I know all the words because then I jam, sing, and really get into it.... (Note to self: Save music for home work outs....)

I am down between a half a pound and a pound.... So not bad, but not where I want to be! Hopefully these snack cravings subside soon!

Come out come out where ever you are!

Hide and Seek is a FAVORITE past time in Casa de Staci.... I swear we play it at least 20 times a day. Highlights from our daily games include:

  • Anthony seeing where I am yet he looks in all these random places and says (in a goofy voice) "Is mommy in the windows? Nope.... not here...." At least five times before he finds me!
  • Madison does not hide. She stands where ever she was, closes her eyes, and thinks we can't see her. If she happens to hide, she does not stay hidden for longer than 15 seconds.
  • Madison counts but does not hide her eyes. She watches where you go as she repeats, "free. ten. do," over and over and over again....
  • When Anthony hides, he does NOT stay quiet. He fake whispers, "PSSST...." every thirty seconds. He had a hard time finding Jason once so Jason made the PSSST noise to give him some help. Now, Anthony thinks that is what you are supposed to do....
  • Murray always gives the hiders away.... (We used to hide from him pre-kids. He loved to find us and always found us pretty fast....
  • A quick game of hide and seek makes all of us laugh so hard our bellies hurt!

Tonight....

was Madison's first recital practice. I will admit, I have been a little nervous that she would be afraid on stage, cry, and want me. She surprised me though. I sat in the theater and she did her thing on stage. Once her spot was marked she stayed there and returned there. She tippy toed to the front of the stage, hammed it up, and did a little curtsy then shashe'd her way right back to her mark.

We got to see some of the teen girls do a lyrical piece and Madison was captivated! It was neat to watch her. When they were finished she was leaping around the auditorium....

Friday is her dress rehearsal and she'll have portraits taken. Then Saturday is the BIG night! lol....

Jason and I are crazy excited. I keep hearing her sing the songs and do the dances.... Saturday should be interesting and.....

AMUSING! :)

Just another Manic Monday....

The sky has opened and the rain is pounding the ground! It is seriously POURING! Its a stay inside and watch movies day, but not for this fam!

Anthony is back to school today and he is soooo excited. He keeps asking if its time to go :) He is really thriving there! Just this weekend he wrote all the letters in his name (not in the correct order, but he wrote each letter). I am so proud. That is one thing he has NEVER been interested in, writing. He always got frustrated and would give up after a second. Now, he has been writing all kinds of letters.... :)

Madison has her dance recital practice today. I can't wait to see her get her groove on up on stage :) She will be doing a tap and ballet dance! Her little costume is soo cute! I am looking forward to her "performance"!

Last night I started the dreaded "clean out the kids closets" task! Does anyone else hate this as much as I do? Madison's is complete and looks great. I finally bagged up her crib bumper and a bunch of baby stuff I was holding onto for some unknown reason. Anthony's is hopefully getting done today, but his closet is HUGE and is a wreck! God only knows what I will find... I am a little afraid! :)

I hope everyone's Monday is fab and not so rainy!

Rock Out

We listen to Sirius' Kids Place Live all the time. The kids LOVE it and I don't mind it. They usually sing and dance their way to our destination. Madison was jamming the other day , so I just HAD to pull over to take a video. Of course once she saw my phone pointed at her she got shy, but after a few seconds she got back into it... lol! The second one is a bit blurry, I kept moving ....

What's in your pocket?

Anthony comes running inside so excited to share what he has found....

A: mommy mommy wook! (stretching his shorts pockets as far open as he cam)

S: Ooh what did you find? (peering ever so cautiously into the half open pocket)

A: My cweatures. See.... (He starts empty-ing his pockets)

Out pops three half smooshed worms and one bug!

I won't lie I screamed! :)

A: see my cweatures mommy? I saves them! I'm a wonder pet too!

My crazy kid!

Tonight Jason and I took the kids for a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. All was good. The air was warm, the kids were happy, Jason and I were having a conversation about something other than children, it was perfection....

THEN......

We look up and Anthony has his pants down around his ankles and is peeing in someones front yard! I wanted to D.I.E!!!!

2 Year Stats!

Madison had her 2 year check up this morning and she was a perfect patient! Not a single tear was shed! She was very cooperative.... This is a big deal for me because Anthony is usually up for an Emmy after his doc visits! :)

So, Miss Priss weighs in at a whopping 26 1/2 pounds and is in the 44th percentile and is 34 1/2 inches tall; which places her in the 66th percentile. So my perfect little angel is tall and skinny... Lucky duck!

EM: Me Edition

{ae filkins}

Well its that time again... Time for accountability! Extreme Makeover: Me Edition! Amber must have read my mind, because I was way off track this past week... I had way too much candy, way too many snacks, and NO where near enough water! This weeks question is how am I going to get back on track....

Well, the weather is supposed to be nice, so I will be walking and running with the kids for sure! The place I take my kids for open gym is starting a Zoomba class tomorrow night, so I am trying that....

Goals for the week:

  • Drink more water
  • Take Zoomba
  • Elliptical 3 times
  • Walk as much as possible!

I hope I can finally get on track and get moving!

Is it just me?

Today I went to the gynie for my annual... blech! I love my doc, but HATE the visit! I hate sitting there all naked and exposed aside from the waist length gown (open to the front ) and the flimsy paper sheet.... It's one of my least favorite things, but surprisingly I never miss the appointment....

As I stripped down in my curtained dressing room, I neatly folded my clothes and set them on the bench. I put my gown on and wrapped the sheet around me and I scurried as fast as I could to the table....

Once I sit on the examine table I glance down and see my feet, covered in socks. Somehow, wearing socks makes me feel less exposed. Covering my feet seems to give me back a little modesty....

As my doc is getting his tools together he observes my feet and smiles.... He tells me, "Nice socks, stace..." So, am I the only weirdo that wears socks and that's why he noticed them? Please tell me you visit your gynie with cute socks too.... :)

Tonight we are heading out to dinner and to the movies! I CANNOT wait! I hope the kids do well with the sitter!

Mailbox got ran over by a grandpa...... (Sing to the tune of grandma got ran over by a reindeer)

Driving home past my house Monday eve.... (Well, actually afternoon)

I was just sitting down to check my email when I heard this thunk thunkity thunk sound.... As I glanced out the office window I see MY mailbox being run down by this old man! He nailed it! He was NOT paying attention (his words) and was speeding through the neighborhood (my words)!

The mailbox was ripped out of the ground, the stud was snapped in half, and all that was left was some wood chunks and the 50 pounds of concrete that used to hold it in! Thank god my kids were not out because the play in the gravel by the mailbox ALL the time!!!!

Jason had to call in a handy man because he couldn't dig out the concrete.... What a mess! The only positive thing is that I HATED I mean HATED that mailbox. Jason and I argued for at least an hour in Lowes when we bought the thing and he won! Well, now we have purchased a new and improved mailbox that I like!

Caught in a game of tag....

I have been tagged twice recently and I FINALLY am getting to it!

First, Mel at Shimmer Me Blue tagged me for the Mom of the Year award! Thanks Mel!!

Rules for Mom of the Year Award:

•Admit one thing you feel awful about involving being a mom. Get it off your shoulders. Once you've written it down, you are No Longer allowed to feel bad. It's over with, it's in the past. Remember, you're a good mom!

I feel so bad when I lose my patience when they chase each other around my kitchen island. They are just having fun, but the screaming drives me crazy and I am afraid someone is going to get hurt!

•Remind yourself you are a good mom, list seven things you love about your kids, you love doing with your kids, or that your kids love about you. These are the things to remind yourself everyday that you Rock!

1. I love playing outside with them

2. I love doing new things with them

3. I love when they curl up for bedtime stories

4. I love when they make me stop and enjoy the small things in life

5. I love seeing and enjoying things through their eyes

6. I love giving and receiving their big bear hugs

7. I love hearing their giggles and seeing their smiles

•Send this to five other Mom's of the year that deserve credit for being great moms and remind them that they are the best moms they can be!! Remember to send them a note to let them know you've selected them, and add a link to the person who nominated you.

I am tagging all of you! I would not read your blogs if I didn't think you all were amazing moms!!!
