High & Low

Many, many, many moons ago I was a nanny for a family that had 4 girls. (The oldest is graduating high school this year! :o) This family became my family and the girls are still like my sisters today... I ate dinner with them most nights because I usually stayed through bedtime / homework....

Anyway....

After seeing the movie "The Story of Us" I stole the idea of high / low... Each night at dinner we all went around the table and shared our high and low point of the day. It always started a good conversation and it makes me smile because they still do this each night. (at least they did they last time I was there) It's like I'm still with them! :) I think its a great addition to family dinner. I can't wait until my family can do this... Anthony is almost there, but when I ask him what his happy part of the day is, he sings happy birthday! lol

Today I have to share my high point because it just made my week...

My high today is that Anthony hugged me when I was dressing him after his tubby and said, "mama, you da best famweee (family) ! I wuv you so much!" He then gave me a big kiss!

These moments wash away all the bad parts of the week!

So, what was your high? Low?

How sweet! My high has been spending having my husband home with us for the long weekend. Aiden loves spending time with Daddy! I won't bore you with my low. I'd rather concentrate on the positive things in my life.

Have never seen the movie, but would love to know more about the concept of high/low. Sounds like something I would like...

I have seen this before on Supernanny or wifeswap. I can't remember but I think it is an awesome concept and one we are going to incorporate in our lives. Todays Highs: Just being with my husband and son today. Lows: Migraine. But the highs ALWAYS outweigh the lows.

Thanks for sharing.

It is a great tool. I can't tell you how much I would learn about the girls' days just from high / low... It would just get everyone sharing! I would ask them every day what did you do at school and I would get the standard "I don't know" or the shrug... But once dinner hit... it was all on the table! :)

My high was seeing how excited Katie was about going to school. She was so so so excited. It was great!

We had to do this as kids with my Dad - high/low and as a bonus a current event. We didn't like doing it back then but as I look back now, I think it was a great thing - it brought us closer as a family.

High: Relaxing all day as a family.

Low: Riley puking all over his room...now that was fun to clean...NOT.
